About Us

Overview

Lake Manitou is the largest lake of the 108 lakes on Manitoulin Island with a surface area of approximately 104 sq. km or 40.5 sq. miles.  It also can lay claim to being the largest lake on a freshwater island in the world.

The Lake Manitou Area Association (LMAA) was established in 1993 and currently has 238 members.

Mission Statement

The LMAA is a non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to preserving the environmental integrity of the waters of Lake Manitou, its feeder streams, and outgoing rivers and partner lakes.

Joining FOCA

One of the first orders of business that the LMAA under took was to become a member of the Federation of Ontario Cottagers' Associations.  This has proven to be very beneficial.
